12 frame redraws Tron
The iconic Tron aesthetic has always been a favorite of mine for its achievement of a dark and retro but futuristic look. I wanted to achieve that same look through some screen grab redraws done. The original scene relies on light, shadows, and reflections, so I chose a more impressionistic approach with minimal outlines. this was to lean more into the energy and shapes of the shots than the detail.
Fake commercial for Listerine Breath Strips
The task was to create boards for new campaign about a product that was hard to sell. My product was Listerine Breath strips. For me I've always remembered ads that match history with modern. (George Washington-Dodge Challenger). The previous summer we had gone to Williamsburg and seen images of events such as the Signing of the Declaration of Independence. The common element was a very small but very crowded room. The tour guide made a remark about how much it must of smelled and how loud it would've been. I wanted mix the hypothetical issue then with the mint strips of now and have the board style to be a callback to those paintings. Thus culminated a poor John Hancock trying to read and sign but he can't focus.
Star Wars Fight Intro
My task was to board just a section of a fight scene or the intro to the big boss scene set in the Star Wars universe. Following watching the Indiana Jones golden idol scene I settled on an exploration gone south. There had been large beasts in the Star Wars universe but never a large Sith Lord. Mashing those ideas led to her exploring the inside of the Sith lords saber searching a powerful Kyper Crystals (what powers lightsabers) ping on her radar. I modeled the lightsaber in Maya and animated cameras to use for reference and proper size comparison.
Star Wars Character Reference

First step was character development to build why they would meet, what was their drive and scene setting. I decided on dry desert landscape so kept their color schemes and design simple and muted with additions of opposing colors in the star wars universe (red-bad, blue-good). To tie them together I incorporated orange into both. The heroine, on the right, I styled more traditionally on the star wars style while for Darth Garyx I wanted him to look older than the current empire since her meddling is what woke him up. I used Spartan and Roman warriors for inspiration. I looked to the Horned Lizard for his colorings and striking facial silhouette. In size, lightsaber, and colors I wanted them to be counters to one another but also easily identifiable and look like they belong in the same universe.
Tumble
A story about a tumbleweed going on an accidental adventure.
Reach
A personal project digging back to my NASA roots as a way to celebrate the programs accomplishments, the wonders of space exploration, and most important: the pursuit of making dreams a reality.
Secrets of ISIS intro reimagined
The task was to breathe a new life into the original intro for the show Secrets of Isis. The original show was light hearted and campy by todays standards. For this redo I wanted to up the intensity and drama to try my hand at rehashing an old show for an new and older audience.
To achieve my goal I imported the audio file into Adobe Audition and isolated the narrators voice by editing out the original background sounds to replace with ew ones. Major inspiration for the style of going through the amulet came from the X-Men Apocalypse intro.
